Frequently asked questions
-
Do I need previous experience of yoga?
The classes are suitable both for beginners and for those who have practiced yoga before.
-
When can I start?
You can start from the 14th week of pregnancy, and it is never too late to join - even women who join in their 8th month can benefit greatly.
If you had any problems with conception, have had any bleeding or if there is any threat of miscarriage, then it is wise to let your pregnancy settle in a bit more before starting movement work. You can benefit greatly from simple breathing and relaxation practices in the meantime, and then start yoga classes in your 16th week of pregnancy.
-
How long can I continue taking classes?
Most women continue attending the class right up to the delivery. It is always important, however,to listen to your body and to the advice of your doctor or midwife.
-
Do I need to check with my health care provider before taking the classes?
Dru Pregnancy Yoga is gentle, safe and beneficial for pregnant women and their growing babies, but of course it is always a good idea to discuss your plans with your midwife or doctor.
If you have what is considered to be a high risk pregnancy, then please do check with your doctor or midwife that they are happy for you to attend these classes.
-
What should I wear?
Wear clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in. It is helpful to bring different layers so you can keep your temperature comfortable.
-
What do I need to bring?
Bring a bottle of water with you and make sure you drink it all by the end of the lesson. Bring a yoga mat, a blanket and 2 cushions.
